Winter is Coming!

Source: Metro Heating and Cooling

This hilarious ad brings back memories of Jon Snow in the blockbuster HBO series Game of Thrones. Where he went off to unite forces against the Night King and his army of White Walkers.

Except for this time you have an adventurous theme playing in the background and a long-haired dude dressed like Jon Snow going from one house to another to deliver the message: “Winter is coming”.

What we like about this ad:

  • Leveraged on a popular TV series: Game of Thrones.
  • It’s so creative that you might not tell it was an ad from the start.
  • The offer is clear.

The Deluxe Experience

Source: Deluxe Plumbing and Heating

Deluxe Plumbing and Heating does a few things right in its first-ever TV air conditioning commercial. First, they focused on the pain point from the very first second. Gave a feel of the high standards the company upholds and the services they offer.

However, we would have preferred if they had a full-screen display at the end of the ad stating their AC services because it’s easy to get distracted and miss out on fast-changing texts below the screen.

What we like about this ad:

  • The ad started by striking the needs of their audience.
  • It focuses on excellent customer service.

Enjoying the Fresh Air

Source: Hisense

Hisense provided a fresh selling angle in this ad: enjoying the fresh air. While most companies would go on talking about cooling off in the thick summer heat they used a less thought-about benefit.

This makes their ad stand out because ACs can also blow out bad air. However, a specific CTA will make the ad more effective.

What we like about this ad:

  • It pinpoints a unique benefit of air conditioners
  • The storyline is spot on.

The Weather Forecast in Real-time

Source: Platinum Heating and Cooling Services

In this commercial, Platinum took the time to show the effects of adverse weather conditions on homeowners in the winter and summer months.

The narrative is funny especially because of the weird alternatives the family used to stay cool and warm in different weather conditions.

What we like about this ad:

  • The use of weird alternatives like ice water to keep cool.
  • It has a good storyline from conflict to resolution.
  • They used a full-screen display of their services and contacts.

This Ad will Blow you Away, Literally

Source: Daikin Air conditioning

Fans can’t compare to Air conditioners and Daikin explained that in this funny ad. I wonder how many fans they mounted in their living room, which was enough to toss the husband on the couch and push back a remote set thrown at it.

At times bizarre ads like this are what get homeowners to make a purchase decision.

What we like about this ad:

  • Crazy ads like this attract a lot of engagement.
  • It’s hilarious and intriguing.

Surviving in the Winter

Source: Metro Heating and Cooling

At first glance, you’d think this was a movie trailer or short movie scene. The costume and narrative make you believe that these guys are barely surviving in the cold with no food and water. Then a dramatic twist, a lady with a technician informing them that the furnace has been fixed.

What we like about this ad:

  • The opening hook is great.
  • The storyline is captivating.
  • It has a clear offer.

It’s Getting Hot in Here

Source: Reliable Heating and Air

We’ve all seen this scene in the movies where a guy will complain about the room being hot so he can make his move.

Unfortunately, the whole family shows up, and the lady’s mom announces that they’ve tuned up their air conditioner or comfort system.

What we like about this ad:

  • The surprise element.
  • It seemed more like a teenage romance film than a commercial from the start.
  • It incorporates three phases: drama, surprise, and offer.

A Funeral for a Friend…or AC Unit?

Source: Reliable Heating and Air

The ad starts with a funeral for a 28-year-old Trane air conditioner who supposedly died. The first line is gold: “It’s hard to stop a Trane, but one day even the best must meet its replacement”

In the last scene, the wife comforted the husband by presenting a new Trane unit and they introduced their financing offer for a new AC unit.

What we like about this ad:

  • It wins your attention with a touching funeral for an AC unit.
  • It has one call to action which is a phone call.

Just a Regular Budget-friendly Family

Source: Deluxe Plumbing and Heating

We love how this commercial narrates the summer life of a regular family looking to save their budget on energy bills. But later discovers that their AC unit is no longer working because it’s hardly used.

The ad is not that funny but paints the right picture in the minds of a budget homeowner.

What we like about this ad:

  • It targets budget-friendly homeowners.
  • It shows the need for regular AC maintenance.
  • The messaging is concise.

Why Hire a Cheap Mediocre Service?

Source: Service Experts

Many homeowners are so easily swayed by cheap HVAC services that they lose sight of actual competence. This ad message clearly shows this problem. The rock climber part is a bit over-the-top but communicates their message. And they went on to place their services front and center in the rest of the commercial.

What we like about this ad:

  • It shows the value of competence over cheap inexperienced services.
  • The ad is simple and straight to the point.

A Rap or HVAC Commercial

Source: Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning

In this commercial, Service Experts made an odd joke with great rapping and then went ahead to explain the value of their offer. The ad is crisp and does well to keep viewers engaged with consistent voice-over and good background music.

What we like about this ad:

  • They repurposed their radio ad to a video ad brilliantly.
  • It is engaging.

Bad Air Can Cause Problems

Source: Midea Xtreme Pro tech

In this ad, Midea showed the need for an anti-bacterial AC that can also serve as an air filter. The ad starts with a boy about to blow out his birthday candle with his parents and a polar bear. Before air contaminants entered his nostrils and he destroyed the party with a disastrous sneeze.

Since the ad ran in 2021 they used the Covid-19 factor to tighten their value proposition.

What we like about this ad:

  • The hurricane sneeze was hilarious.
  • They stated the key features and benefits of their product.

A Service with Integrity

Source: Northwind Air Conditioning, Heating and Mechanical Services.

Northwind distinguishes itself from its competitors by emphasizing its belief: service with integrity. This is a unique value proposition because trust is important in HVAC services.

Some HVAC technicians can lie about repair costs or components so they can get some extra cash. Even worse, make you purchase a new AC unit when they compromised the previous one.

What we like about this ad:

  • It has a unique selling point(USP) which is service with integrity.
  • It promotes trust in their brand ethics.

You Can’t Resist these Adorable Kids

Source: Derryberry Heat and Air

The commercial features a regular family with happy background music and a dad trying to fix their air conditioner. But what caught our interest was the adorable kids screaming, “Call Toby!” I doubt if anyone can say no to that–for the record Toby is a dog, not a technician.

What we like about this ad:

  • The adorable kids part is cool.
  • It’s simple and effective.

Your Wife is Hot!

Source: Elevated HVAC

We’ve seen several old-time billboard ads with the “hot wife” illustration but this time we get to see it in a commercial. In the ad, a guy visits his friend only to infuriate him with “your wife is hot” comments. He later clarified his comments and gave a speech about calling their services.

However, the banter between the friends lasted too long and they weren’t specific in mentioning their cooling services but left an implied meaning.

What we like about this ad:

  • The banter makes for good television.

Last Words: Funny HVAC Ads that are Amazing

Adding comedy to your HVAC ads will do you a world of good. You’ll be able to grab your audience’s attention from the start and make them happy with HVAC memes. Which opens the door for you to sell them on your HVAC services.

Now it’s your turn, to use these advertising ideas to create memorable commercials that stick in the minds of your audience because of how it made them feel.
